IAF personnel observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect to pay homage to martyrs.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) celebrated its 80th anniversary in Bangalore on Monday with Air Marshal Rajinder Singh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Headquarters Training Command placing a wreath at the War Memorial in remembrance of those who laid their lives for the country.
IAF personnel observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect to pay homage to martyrs. Later, at the gathering of Training Command personnel, an oath was administered and messages received from the president, vice-president, prime minister, defence minister, minister of state for defence and chief of air staff were read out.
Air Marshal Singh gave away the Chief of Air Staff and AOC in C commendations to recipients. Addressing the gathering, he mentioned that the Indian Air Force is undergoing massive modernisation with the induction of state of the art aircraft and weapon system.
This evolution in tandem with the professional excellence, has catapulted the IAF to being the very best in the world, he said.
He urged all personnel to take a renewed pride in them as members of a cutting edge air force and conduct themselves with dignity and honour at all times.
Governor HR Bhardwaj also took part in the celebrations by visiting the Command Hospital Air Force. In his address, the governor said that care of the armed forces veterans and families of martyrs were areas close to his heart. He complimented Command Hospital Air Force Bangalore for the commendable job being done towards this.
The governor visited the Cancer Centre where he gave his words of encouragement to ailing patients. The governor’s wife Prafullata Bhardwaj visited the children in the paediatrics ward and distributed fruits and sweets. They also interacted with all personnel and patients.
