Bangalore: Amid the saddle-jump, steeple-chase, and horse-trade, we are seeing on Karnataka's political stage, a new high-decibel show is making headlines. It's called style-bashing.
Of particular interest to the Rebel Camp, or Brothers Reddy, is BS Yeddyurappa's style of functioning. The calm, composed, hands-on, centralised, astute, let-me-decide CM seems to have provoked his foes within the BJP to berate his leadership persona. Even if it is a generic word for everything the rebels don't like about Yeddyurappa, style has become contentious, toxic, uncompromising.
Reading the political weather rather well, the chief minister on Saturday came up with a style statement: He was ready to change his style, he said, if they (rebels) could come up with specifics.
"I could change. I could lower my voice when in conversation with these people. Henceforth, I will be more conscious about expressing myself," Yeddyurappa told DNA.Sunday.
For the rebels, style means more. In fact, everything. Here's their wish-list of complaints, which they meticulously listed for DNA.Sunday.
1.CM is autocratic and takes unilateral decisions without consulting ministers.
2.There is interference from his family members in administration.
3.Minister of rural development and panchayat raj Shobha Karandlaje is acting like CM's advisor and is being consulted by him in all important matters.
4.CM never meets BJP MLAs or listens to their woes.
