Weather department predicts humidity to differ during day and night as moisture-laden winds have moved away from southern Karnataka towards east and north.

While residents complained of unpredictable and humid weather in Bangalore, Indian Metrological Department in Bangalore said it would rain in the night or evening causing the relative humidity to go up during evening as compared to that in the morning.

“In my family, everyone perspires a lot but as the evenings get more humid outside, we have no other way but to keep our air-conditioners on. And sometimes, we feel cheated when the power goes off,” said Pushpa Dharmagiri, a resident of Sahakaranagar.

“Till a few days back, cool winds were blowing during evenings. But now, it is unbearably humid,” said Mandrita Mitra, a resident of Cambridge Layout.

“Winds changing directions is one reason why the humidity is differing during day and night. While during the day, temperature rises, humidity is less. But when night falls, moisture-laden winds blow through the land and cause rains in the evening or late in the night,” said B Puttana, director, IMD, Bangalore.

But the weather department is not issuing any warnings as they expect it to rain moderate up to 7cm.

However, on Wednesday, Puttana said it could rain heavily in Bangalore urban and rural and in parts of Kolar, Chikmagalur and even coastal Karnataka.

Rains will continue till June, according to the weather department.
