The 'truth test' gauntlet thrown by chief minister BS Yeddyurappa at state JD(S) president HD Kumaraswamy is hotting up with the latter announcing on Monday his readiness to not just swear before Lord Manjunatha of Dharmasthala, but also undergo a narco analysis to prove his claim that his bete noire did try to strike a compromise deal with him through an aide.
"I am ready to face any inquiry. I am even prepared to undergo the truth serum test to prove that Yeddyurappa had sent his aide to strike a deal with me to restrain me from exposing any more of his and his family members' scams," Kumaraswamy said.
The JD(S) leader said he accepted the challenge of going through the Dharmasthala trial on June 27 to come clean before the people. "Had I not accepted the challenge, people would have suspected my integrity," he said, defending his decision to testify before the Lord, which has drawn criticism from various quarters.
"BJP MLC Lehar Singh Siroya, a confidant of Yeddyurappa, has already confessed to the media that he did meet me in Bangalore and Delhi. Thus half the truth has already come out. All BJP leaders are aware what are the functions assigned to Lehar Singh by Yeddyurappa," said Kumaraswamy.
However, Kumaraswamy made it clear that he alone would be taking the truth test and his family members would not have anything to do with it.
According to JD(S) sources, Kumaraswamy has written to the Dharmasthala dharmadhikari, Veerendra Heggade, explaining to him the compulsions that drove him to accept Yeddyurappa's challenge.
"Yeddyurappa is mixing dharma with politics. Now I seek your guidance. I will obey whatever direction you give me on this," he wrote.
Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Monday donated `1lakh to Harish Kumar M, an MBBS aspirant and son of an auto driver, to help him pursue his dream.
