A fire that swept through a part of Vyasnakere foreststoday incinerated several trees, flora and fauna, according to official sources.
The fire that broke out in the evening soon spread to an area of 2.5 acres, officials of the Hospet Forest Range said.
The cause of the fire is being ascertained.
No loss to human life has been reported, sources said.
The forest officials said they have alerted the fire force and vehicles are being deployed to contain the fire.
