Fans to pray for Rajinikanth's recovery in Gavipuram

The special puja will be performed by the superstar’s classmate and temple priest, Somasundara Dikshit. The prayer has been organised by the Karnataka State Rajini Seva Samithi.

Fans of ailing superstar Rajinikanth are holding a special puja for their idol’s recovery at Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple in Gavipuram from 9.30 am to 10.30 am on Friday.

The special puja will be performed by the superstar’s classmate and temple priest, Somasundara Dikshit. The prayer has been organised by the Karnataka State Rajini Seva Samithi.

Samithi spokesperson Rajini Murugan G said that about 500 fans of the superstar will attend the puja. Murugan said prasadam will be distributed to the public following the completion of the prayers.

The temple has been chosen because the superstar, who spent his childhood and youth in Gavipuram, was a regular visitor to the shrine.

The government school where Rajini studies is also located next to the shrine.  The samithi also carrying out various social work. It distributes free textbooks to children whenever Rajini films hit the theatres.
