Enterprise contest boosts e-governance

The Youth Enterprise contest organised by Intel and the NSRCEL at IIM Bangalore concluded with two teams winning the title.

A team of students from BITS Hyderabad, College of Engineering and Technology Bhubaneswar, Sastra University Delhi and NITK Surathkal won the prize for their work in the area of providing local rural employment opportunities through a job-exchange portal.

The second team comprising students from DCE Delhi, IIT Delhi and RVCE Bangalore won it for their work in mitigating the financial risk that farmers across the country face due to weather and market variations that lead to crop failure-related losses.
Both these projects will support and enhance the cause of e-governance in the state.

Each of the winning teams was awarded cash prize of US$ 5,000 (approximately Rs2,50,000) and will participate in the Intel Global Challenge at the University of California in November.

The members of the two teams are: Rural Employment Opportunities: Anshul Pandey, BITS Hyderabad, Dharanidhar Dang, College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar, Gaurav Jain, Sastra University, Delhi, Abhishek Gupta, NITK, Surathkal and Neetesh Hegde, NITK, Surathkal.

Mitigating Financial Risk for Farmers: Saurav Kumar, DCE Delhi, Nagaraj N, IIT Delhi, Avik Dhupar and Suhas N, RVCE, Bangalore.
