BANGALORE: She was more used to extracting dentals. On Saturday evening, she extracted something different from her former boyfriend, and went missing with his prized possession: the penis.
The boyfriend, Dr Mir Arshad Ali (33), a dentist, is now undergoing treatment in a city hospital. Dr Sayeda Amina (30), also a dentist, allegedly drugged Dr Ali in her Koramangala clinic, bobbitised him and took him to a hospital in Tilak Nagar. Police are searching for the absconding suspect - and the missing penis, which doctors said cannot be reattached.
Doctors at the Sagar Hospital said a bleeding Dr Ali was brought to them in an unconscious state.
SPURNED LOVER
Police suspect Dr Amina took revenge on the victim for marrying another woman 10 months ago. The accused and the victim were childhood friends and neighbours at N R Mohalla in Mysore.
"They were in a relationship for nine years. For certain unknown reasons, they did not get married. Dr Mir married another woman 10 months ago. The two doctors were practising for the last seven years. They studied in Mysore Medical College. While she has a clinic in Bangalore, he was running clinic in Mysore,'' said C Nagaraj, police inspector, Koramangala.
However, Dr Ali's relatives are skeptical about the motive. According to them, Dr Ali had informed his wife, Haseena, a Mumbai-based freelance journalist, about his affair. Also, both the women were in touch with each other. "We do not know what triggered this incident," a relative told this newspaper.
The police, however, said Dr Ali continued his affair with his girlfriend even after his marriage.
FATEFUL SATURDAY
Police said Dr Amina invited Dr Ali to her clinic, Miswak Dental Clinic in Koramangala 8th Block, on Saturday evening, on the pretext of having a discussion with him. She allegedly offered him a sedative-laced soft drink. After he had fallen unconscious, she reportedly cut off his penis.
She later took him to Sagar hospital. Dr Amina handed over his mobile phone and laptop to the hospital staff before leaving the place. The hospital authorities informed the police about the incident on Sunday night and a complaint was lodged the next morning.
Dr Ali's brother-in-law, Hussein, was in Bangalore on Saturday. He said he received a phone call from Dr Amina, who told him that Dr Mir had gone to her clinic in a bad condition. Hussein was in Bangalore on some passport-related work. Police said Dr Amina also telephoned Haseena, but sounded unaware of how the incident had happened.
The accused, however, took up the responsibility for Dr Ali's condition on Sunday, when she telephoned the victim's uncle. "She pleaded with him not to lodge a police complaint. She owned up to what she had done and said she would take care of the medical expenses," Hussein said.
NEIGHBOURS SHOCKED
Dr Amina was running her clinic from Aswathkatte, a commercial complex in Koramangala. She was staying with her mother, a heart patient, at New Gurappanapalya in Adugodi. Her father had passed away a few years ago.
Chandrappa, the owner of the commercial complex, said Dr Amina was running the clinic for the past five years. "She used to visit the clinic twice a day for consultation. She is a very nice woman and we did not expect such an act from her," he said. Dr Amina's neighbours said her mother was also missing since Saturday.
