Following the foiled Detroit terror attack on the Northwest Airlines flight, airlines have stepped up security for flights bound for the US on advice of the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
On Saturday, a Nigerian tried to detonate an explosive device onboard Northwest Airlines flight 253 in an attempt to blow up the aircraft but failed in his bid. The flight was bound for Detroit from Amsterdam carrying 278 passengers, all of whom are safe with just minor injuries.
Saroj Datta, executive director of Jet Airways, said his airline has already started implementing instructions issued by the US authorities. “We are putting additional security measures in place as directed by the US government,” he said.
