Stress is often said to be the culprit behind behavioural problems, no doubt. But for Kannada cinestar Darshan, stress brought along health problems like asthma and jaundice too.

Sources close to Darshan said that the actor had suffered behavioural changes due to immense stress and was shifted to Nimhans for psychiatric analysis on Friday. The doctors found evidence of lung complications and referred the actor to Victoria Hospital.

A thorough check up revealed that the actor had broncho spasm in the lungs.

“Since Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD) specialises in such problems, he came here around 5.30am,” said Dr Sashidhar Buggi, medical director, RJICD. The doctor, along with a chest physician, examined Darshan early in the morning. There were a couple of complications.

“He was dehydrated, exhausted and was having difficulty in breathing. He also suffered bouts of wheezing. We found out that the actor has a family history of asthma. He also had a cough problem, which he never bothered to check,” added Dr Buggi.

“The cold weather, coupled with his smoking habit, only made the asthma worse. Darshan has been admitted at RGICD and is receiving treatment. He has been given intermittent oxygen, nebuliser and steroids that will help him recover,” said Dr Buggi. He is expected to be fine in the next two to three days. Meanwhile, he has also been detected with mild jaundice and is being treated for that too.
