Bangalore: Cycles have no rights in our city. Though cycles fall in the category of two-wheelers, they are denied parking in places where motorbikes are allowed. Fighting this cause, the Go Green Go Cycling team initiated a campaign headed by Prabhakar Rao, the founder of the go green campaign.

Their aim is to spread awareness that cycling is a healthy, nature-friendly and time-saving means of transport in a city like Bangalore and there should be no discrimination against cycles.

The Go Green Go Cycling team comprises professionals (called Go Green Initiators or GCIs), most of who cycle to work daily. "I cycle to work every day and I cover 17km in 45minutes, whereas it takes more time by car. I get my daily dose of exercise, I save up on fuel and save up on gymming expenses too," says Subhash, a GCI. On Saturday evening, a team of 35 cycled to the Forum mall in Koramangala from Cubbon Park just to find out if they were allowed to park their cycles on the mall's premises.

They had a squabble with mall guards for more than an hour and then had to speak to the manager. "Cyclists should be treated like bikers are. Our mission is to go out and stop this discrimination in every possible place in the city and encourage people to take up cycling
for commuting," says Prabhakar Rao, better known as Go Green Rao.
