The city police submitted an affidavit before the Supreme Court, stating a missing mother-son duo could not be traced.

Assistant commissioner of police (Malleshwaram sub-division) GT Ajjappa submitted the affidavit on July 31. He stated that the police could not find Vijayasree Voora (40) and Aditya Chandran (7) anywhere under his jurisdictional limits. The court has reserved its verdict.

The apex court had earlier directed the police to trace the missing mother-son duo, after it accepted a habeas corpus petition by her husband, V Ravi Chandran. The petitioner had stated that his wife and son were sighted in Rajajinagar.

The court had also directed Chennai police commissioner and senior superintendents of police in Agra and Chandigarh to trace the duo.

Dr Chandran alleged that his wife had abducted Aditya from New York on June 28, 2007. A New York court had earlier granted Dr Chandran the custody of the boy, after he contested that Vijayasree was mentally unsound and feared she might harm his son.

Later, the FBI issued an arrest warrant against her after she allegedly fled the US taking Aditya with her.

The complainant said that Aditya is a US citizen, born in 2002 in New York. Differences between the couple reportedly culminated in the abduction.
