Within minutes of the Karnataka Lok Ayukta Justice Santosh Hegde submitting his report on “illegal mining”, the Congress demanded that not just the chief minister but other ministers named in this case should also quit.

“The entire Karnataka government has been mired in corruption and we all know that it is the most corrupt state government in the country,” said Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed while reiterating the demand that Yeddyurappa should quit immediately.

Ahmed said that the Lok Ayukta’s report has also brought forth the manner in which the Reddy brothers had subverted the system. “We are also aware of the links which these Reddy brothers have with senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj,” he added.

Senior Congress leader from Karnataka BK Hariprasad also observed that the controversy-scarred chief minister had evaded the issue for a long time.” Now there is no getting away from the fact that a systematic loot was being conducted under the supervision of a BJP government,” he said.

Responding to questions related to the role of the companies belonging to Congress RS member Anil Lad and another MP Naveen Jindal in the illegal mining, Hariprasad said that the law should be allowed to take its own course.
