Bangalore: The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to professional courses in the state for the year 2010 will be held from April 28 to 30. The state department of higher education announced the dates on Monday. The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will soon begin the process of issuing application forms and further procedures.

CET 2010 will be held at 228 centres across the state. KEA issues application forms in February every year. "Application forms will be issued in February, and candidates will have a month's time to apply," said a KEA official. KEA is expecting a larger number of candidates this year as compared to previous years as free coaching has been introduced for rural students this year.

One test only: Limbavali

The department has been trying to convince the COMED-K management to hold a common entrance test this year. Higher education minister Aravind Limbavali said, "We will soon discuss the matter with representatives of the management of private institutes. Attending two entrance examinations is a burden for students. I am confident that the COMED-K will understand this."
