The central crime branch (CCB) police have filed a chargesheet before the 1st additional chief metropolitan magistrate (ACMM) court on July 16 in the Chinnaswamy stadium blast case.

Fourteen people have been named as accused. Of this, seven have been arrested while the rest, including Yasin Bhatkal, are absconding, said joint commissioner of police for crime (east) B Dayananda. Five cases have been registered. “We have filed a chargesheet in connection with the blast at Anil Kumble Circle where a small explosion occurred on April 17, 2010. The chargesheet for the remaining four cases will be filed soon,” Dayananda said.
The investigation officer BN Nyamagowda and his team prepared the chargesheet and submitted it after permission from the state government.

Police sources said 14 suspects including Indian Mujahideen (IM) founder Riyaz and Yasin Bhatkal, who executed the terror attack, were among the accused. Yasin is the first accused. The police mentioned in the chargesheet that they were making efforts to arrest him.

The chargesheet said Yasin Bhatkal, Qateel, Khomani and Farroq were actively involved in the case and 10 others including Riyaz Bhatkal and Fasih Mohammed (who was recently arrested by the Saudi Arabia police) were involved in conspiracy and other indirect roles in the blast.

According to the chargesheet, Yasin came to Tumkur 45 days prior to the attack on the stadium. He rented a house. Later, Khomani, Qateel and Farooq joined him. They prepared explosives in the house, took them to Bangalore, and planted them in areas around the stadium.

Yasin used to get food for his associates from a canteen. The three also had visited the canteen. The canteen workers and the house owner from Tumkur identified the three accused. The police head constable, who was on night beat around stadium, also identified them.
