In a shocking incident, a hearing challenged 25-year-old youth was killed when he was riding his two-wheeler on Koramangala inner ring road late Saturday night. The deceased, named Vinith Vijaykumar Joseph, a trainee at Mico Bosch, was killed when he lost his balance and crashed into the road divider.

Although Vinith was wearing a helmet it was not strapped and it came off with the impact of the crash, exposing his head which hit the divider with full force that opened up his skull.
Passers-by informed the 108 ambulance service and an unconscious Vinith was taken to Nimhans, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Preliminary investigations, which included questioning some of the eye-witnesses to the accident, revealed that Vinith was speeding on his bike when he lost his balance and crashed into the divider.

Vinith was a resident of Ejipura and he was returning home from Domlur. He was married three years ago to a woman who is also hearing challenged. The couple was living in Ejipura with Vinith’s mother and sister. His sister is also hearing challenged, as was his father who died a few years ago.

Vinith was the sole bread-winner among the family members, who told the police that he enjoyed speeding on his motorcycle which belonged to him. However, the motorcycle was purchased in the name of his mother who does not suffer from any handicaps. Incidentally, Vinith did not have a driving licence as people with physical handicaps — especially hearing and visually challenged — are not allowed licences as per the Motor Vehicles Act. The police said Vinith’s mother was probably not aware of this fact as she had allowed him to buy a two-wheeler in her name, although without a driving licence. Vinith’s body was handed over to his family after a post mortem was conducted.

A case of unnatural death has been registered with the Adugodi traffic police.
