Businessman kidnapped

A 48-year-old businessman was kidnapped from his house at AECS Layout, Kundalahalli on Friday, allegedly by his sister and brother-in-law over a family dispute.

The businessman’s wife, Gadan Kanaka Durga, filed a police complaint alleging that her husband Veerareddy was kidnapped by his sister and brother-in-law Sanjay at about 5.45pm on Friday.

Police investigation revealed that he was detained in a house near Vidyaranyapura on Friday night and tortured. He returned home by Saturday evening.

The police took Veerareddy for questioning and it came out that the kidnappers had called his two business partners and asked each one of them to pay Rs50 lakh for Veerareddy’s safe release.

An investigating officer said they were trying to find out why his sister and brother-in-law kidnapped him and what happened to him while he was in their custody.
