Upset with the series of allegations made by the opposition, the chief minister fumed at them for being blind to the developmental works undertaken by the BJP government.
Chief minister BS Yeddyurappa is now planning on filing a defamation suit against former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy and opposition leader Siddaramaiah. He also warned that he will shortly release a chargesheet against Gowda and his family.
Upset with the series of allegations made by the opposition, chief minister on Wednesday fumed at them for being blind to the developmental works undertaken by the BJP government in the last 3 years. “To defame my government, they are making baseless allegations. I will explain the developmental works to my people in detail,” he said.
Congress and JD(S) have constantly been engaged in defaming the BJP. “I have decided to file a defamation suit against Kumaraswamy and Siddaramaiah,” he said.
It may be recalled that after Yeddyurappa became the chief minister, he had filed two defamation suits against Kumaraswamy for levelling bribery charges against him in 2008. The high court has granted a stay; the case is still pending before the court.
Sources close to chief minister said nothing will come out of initiating a defamation suit. However, it would help quiet down Kumaraswamy. “The chief minister is using this as an arm-twisting tactic,” they said.
Yeddyurappa is furious with opposition leader Siddaramaiah for making baseless allegations, in which the former was accused of evading Rs339.54 crore income tax. “There is no truth in these allegations. If Siddaramaiah has records, he should prove it. He has to face legal consequences otherwise,” said Yeddyurappa.
The chief minister also warned that he will soon release a detailed charge sheet against Gowda and his family members. “Let them respond to it. They must not escape from the clutches of the law,” he said.
