Tension gripped students and parents after an anonymous caller said a bomb has been planted in a college campus and that it would go off at 11 am. The police searched the place and the call was proved to be a hoax.

Alarm bells started ringing when SJR Primary and High School and College for Women in Rajajinagar received a call on its landline phone at 9.15 am on Friday.  The anonymous caller said: “A bomb with a timer device has been planted on your college premises and it will go off at 11 am.” When the person who attended the call asked the man to identify himself, the call was cut off.

Parents were still dropping off their children when the bomb threat came. Tension gripped the campus as students were immediately evacuated as a safety measure. Many still stood outside watching the drama unfold as police came in with the dog squad and finger print experts and started combing the place. For three hours the search went on, and around noon the police declared the bomb scare as a hoax.

There are two land line phones in the school and college. One has a caller ID facility while other does not. The miscreant called to the phone which does not have a caller ID.  The Magadi Road police have registered a case.
