Members of the health standing committee of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Wednesday undertook a 24-hour inspection of several hotels and hospitals in the city. The committee issued notices to the hotels for not maintaining cleanliness, while the hospitals were warned to provide better service to the patients.

The members inspected the BBMP Referral Hospital at Magadi Road and found the hospital clean and tidy. But when the chairman BS Manjunath Reddy questioned about the madilu kit which is given to pregnant women, a doctor said that there was no stock in the hospital. The team has written a letter to the chief health officer (CHO) to provide the kits to be distributed to the women.

“The CHO has said that the BBMP has already purchased 40,000 madilu kit which will be distributed to various hospitals,” Reddy said.

The members also visited the Hosahalli Referral Hospital where the BBMP is running a 30-bed hospital. “I have directed the officials to upgrade the hospital by constructing more floors and increase the number of beds to 60 for the benefit of the public,” he said.

The panel visited Hotel Greenwood Lands at Magadi Road and found it unclean. Reddy directed the health officials to issue a notice to the hotel.
