The huge increase in funds for developing national highways will give a fillip to the elevated access road that will connect the city with the Bangalore International Airport (BIA) and similar other projects, said the young politician and member of legislative assembly (MLA) of Byatarayanapura, Krishna Byre Gowda.
“The union government’s 23% additional fund allocation for the National Highway Development Programme (NHDP), should accelerate the ongoing projects in and around Bangalore, for instance the elevated link road to the airport,” he said, adding, “There is also a lot of focus on urban infrastructure. They have increased the fund allocation for the JNNURM schemes as well. That is a good sign and Bangalore will benefit from the funds, provided we make use of them in a timely and aggressive manner,” he said.
Also, the Central Government has created a revolution by bringing in the Food Security Act, said Krishna.
“There is a revolutionary thought in terms of trying to make subsidised fertiliser directly accessible to farmers. In this manner, we are ensuring that we are not subsidising the inefficiencies of fertiliser companies,” he said.
On the agriculture front, Krishna said, “Not many farmers are getting the promised three to four per cent loans from state-run co-operative banks. Now, they can at least avail the facility from commercial banks, and that too at much lesser rates.”
“It is a great relief for agriculturists and persons dependent on agriculture, as timely credit is being made available to the agriculture sector,” he added. The extension of credit limit will benefit the farmer himself, as he can now depend on institutional farming – thus helpinghim in his agricultural activities, he added.
