The students of the Canadian International School on Thursday went on a walkathon to raise awareness and raise funds for a worthy cause. The annual walkathon, saw students from Class I to Class V walking to contribute to various charities across the city.
The funds raised by the students were contributed to the Missionaries of Charity, a charity run by the sisters of Mother Teresa for the welfare of destitute people and Indira Gandhi International Academy, a residential school for Sri Lankan refugee children, and Habitat for Humanity project. The event was met with enthusiasm from both the students and the faculty.
“I’m proud of the students. They were extremely committed and focused,” said Priya Anand, community service coordinator. The sentiment was echoed by other faculty members as well.
