Sheikh Mohammed Asgar alias Mahim, the prime suspect in the murder of Banashankari Temple ward corporator Mohammed Ali alias Diwan Ali, has been alleged of throwing out a Byrasandra resident with the support of local police and fake documents.

The resident, Mir Saifulla (65) claimed on Monday that he had petitioned the state home minister, R Ashoka, just five days before Ali was murdered. The corporator was shot at and hacked to death on Sunday.

Saifulla alleged that Mahim evicted him forcefully from his residence at the LIC Colony on 10th Cross in Byrasandra near Jayanagar, in connivance with the
then police inspector of Tilaknagar.

“I was thrown out of my house on April 16, 2003 on the basis of fake documents. Mahim was supported by the then inspector of Tilaknagar, SK Umesh. I kept running around offices knocking doors for justice, but these goons turned out to be much powerful. After all, these rowdies have the support of the local police, who are mainly responsible for the goons to thrive,” Saifulla, said from his rented accommodation.

In his petition to the home minister he stated that he owned the property and house on Plot No. 8 on 10th Cross in LIC Colony, Byrasandra. He further claimed that Mahim had forged documents to prove that the property belonged to one of his henchmen, Amjad Pasha, since July 28, 2000. He even got a favourable court order to buy two sites on 9th Cross and a house. Instead of the property on 9th Cross, the rowdy-turned-film producer grabbed the petitioner’s property.

Saifulla said his house was on 9th Main, but inspector Umesh insisted that the court order was actually aimed at his property.

“I had argued with the inspector that 9th Cross was outside his police station limits. But he made me and my son sit in the police station on April 16, 2003 and forcibly vacated my family by throwing all our belongings out. I found that the entry in the station house diary that the property was on 9th Cross. I do not know how he evicted me like this. I had brought this to the notice of all the police commissioners ever since. But nobody took me seriously,” he said.

Inspector Umesh denied any wrongdoing. “Whatever I have done, it was done in accordance with the court’s order. The eviction was carried out in the presence of court amin,” he said. The sexagenarian said Pasha had been taken into police custody after he allegedly tried to usurp land belonging to the Karnataka State Reserve Police in Madivala. “I could not appeal against the goons as the process of collecting all documents took time, and I was also driven to penury,” he said.

He said his January 11 petition to the home minister narrated his harrowing experience. “I am not afraid of this inspector any more. I think this is the right time to nail all the culprits. Even top police officers should know what is happening in police stations,” he asked.

He said he cannot be cowed down by any force. “It is my right to bring such things in the open. In fact, more than the police officers, it was I who followed up the KSRP land grabbing by Mahim and his goon Pasha. Let the city police order a detailed enquiry. They will come to know the real culprits in the KSRP land scam,” he said.

“During the last seven years, my life had been in and out of photocopying centres. I was relieved when the prime minister directing Union minister of law M Veerappa Moily to look into the KSRP land grabbing case,” he said.
