A 49-year-old headmaster died after he fell off the third floor of a hospital on Tuesday morning. The deceased, A Lakshmaiah, was a resident of Dasanapur near Thyamagondlu in Nelamangala. He used to work in Sagatapura Government Primary School near Nelamangala.

For the past few days, Lakshmaiah was complaining of fever and chest-ache. His wife Sharadamma got him admitted to Chord Road Hospital on December 23. The next day, he was shifted to ICU as doctors suspected he had dengue. After he recovered, he was shifted to the general ward. At 5.30am on Tuesday, he woke up his wife and told her that he wanted to use the restroom. His wife helped him get out of bed. Later, she went to bed. A nurse came for examination at 5.40am.

When Sharadamma woke up, she could not find her husband. She alerted her relatives. At 9.30am, the residents of the neighbouring building said they saw a man lying in a pool of blood on the other side of the hospital. The police rushed to the spot and identified him as Lakshmaiah. The body was handed over to his family after postmortem. The police said Lakshmaiah was mentally disturbed but his wife suspects that he might have slipped while walking on the third floor.
