Bangalore girl killed while crossing railway tracks using headset

Since Bhagyalakshmi was using the headset, either listening to the radio or speaking to somebody, she could not hear the train.

An 18-year-old girl, who was using the headset of her cellphone while crossing a railway track, was run over by a train in Srirampuram on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Bhagyalakshmi, a resident of Swatantra Palya in Srirampuram. She was worked as a housekeeping staffer in Mantri Square mall.

According to police, the incident took place at 7.30am while she was heading to work. Since Bhagyalakshmi was using the headset, either listening to the radio or speaking to somebody, she could not hear the train.

After being hit, her body was dismembered into five pieces.  The body was handed over to her parents after postmortem at Victoria Hospital.

“We have not recorded the statement of her parents as they were in shock. Further investigations will reveal which train ran over her and how she was hit by the train,” an investigative officer said.
