After enough damage was done, some lawyers tried to get admitted to the Bowring & Lady Curzon Hospital and National Institute for Mental Health and Neurosciences (Nimhans), claiming they were seriously injured.

But even after being assured by doctors that they were fine and did not need hospitalisation, they refused to leave the hospital premises.

At Nimhans, four lawyers — Ajay, Bheemappa, Muthu and Subba Reddy — tried to get themselves admitted, claiming they were severely injured.

“They were treated immediately for minor wounds. We advised them to leave as they were free to go,” said Sonia Narang, DCP South.

In Bowring & Lady Curzon Hospital, Ramanjaneya, Prasad, Lokesh Prasad, Venkateshwara Reddy, Suersh and Mohan were treated and only two were admitted.

Meanwhile, police officers Kiran Kumar (Wilson Garden), Krishnaji Rao (KSRP), Lingappa (Viveknagar), and Narayanappa (Electronics City) were admitted to Bowring & Lady Curzon hospital.

They were injured when stones were pelted at them and some of them were also injured during the clashes between mediapersons and lawyers on the City Civil Court premises.
At Nimhans, Chandrappa (KR Puram) and Narayana Swamy, who allegedly got injured when a chair fell on their head, are said to be in serious condition.

“Swamy sustained internal injuries in the head. He will be under observation for 12 hours before any decision on operating on him can be taken,” Nimhans officials said.

Among journalists, Anitha Jain, Gundu Rao and Ravi Kumar (from a private TV channel) were admitted to Bowring & Lady Curzon hospital.

Pedestrians face khaki fury

Among those injured were people who just happened to be near the City Civil Court premises.

B Ramesh, a businessman, was brought to Bowring & Lady Curzon Hospital after he sustained injuries while walking past the City Civil Court.

“I had stepped out to collect my mother’s death certificate from the BBMP and was walking towards KR Circle, when some policemen assaulted me . When I told them that
I had nothing to do with the riots, they put me in an ambulance and dragged me to the hospital. I simply wanted to go home,” he said.

In a similar incident, two people identified as Rahul and Ananth were walking towards Mysore Bank Circle when they were stopped and beaten up by policemen.

“I began to bleed and my cheeks and elbows turned red. We were brought here in an ambulance,” Ananth said.
