Bangalore babus asked to speed up reservoir renovation

BWSSB minister S Suresh Kumar has directed officials to speed up renovation work of Tippagondanahalli reservoir which provides water to Bangalore North.

At a meeting on Wednesday, the minister directed officials to commence desilting of the reservoir and remove encroachments by December.

He warned officials that Bangalore will face drought if the reservoir was not saved. “We have to remove the encroachments which are preventing the free flow of the water to the reservoir. The illegal layouts and industries should be removed and boundary stones should be laid. Action should also be taken against the sewage water entering the reservoir,” Kumar told the officials.

The BWSSBminister said that he has ordered the revenue authorities not to provide any fresh khatas.

Kumar informed that a meeting under the leadership of chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda will be held in December to prepare a final project report on the renovation of Tippagondanahalli reservoir.
