The rising crescendo of discordant noises in the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has prompted the state party chief DV Sadananda Gowda to warn party MLAs of disciplinary action if they continued to discuss party affairs in the media.

Gowda’s warning came even as a fresh front was opened against the chief minister by Bijapur MP Ramesh Jigajinagi, who alleged that the party had used Dalits at the time of elections and dumped them after coming to power. Jigajinagi took exception to no representation being provided to Dalits during the recent ministerial expansion.

Meanwhile, the ranks of those expressing their outrage over MP Renukacharya’s induction into the ministry continued to swell.

Transport minister R Ashok and IT-BT minister Katta Subramanya Naidu have said that SK Bellubbi would have been the eligible candidate to join the ministry instead of Renukacharya.

“Renukacharya is only a two-time MLA and has been made minister. What is the fate of those have made it to the assembly 3-4 times?” said Madikeri MLA Appachchu Ranjan.

Another minister said on the condition of anonymity: “The chief minister is yielding to demands from every nook and corner. If this continues for long, the administration will come to a standstill and the government won’t last for long.”
