The narcotics wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) nabbed two Nigerians for selling cocaine on Sunday, and seized drugs worth Rs4 lakh.
The duo, John Odim Kala alias Immanuel, 33, and Onyakachi Kala, 28, were nabbed when a team of CCB sleuths, posing as prospective customers, approached one of them and caught him red-handed in Mahadevpura.
Earlier, the CCB team had stumbled upon a drug addict and caught him with a few grams of cocaine. Interrogation revealed that he had procured it from the duo, assistant commissioner of police SY Gulled said.
The police have recovered 120 grams of cocaine (worth
Rs4 lakh), passports, four mobile phones and credit and debit cards of various banks from them.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the duo had come to India on a business visa and ventured into drug peddling after they incurred losses in garments-export business.
The duo told the police that they bought cocaine from James alias Mallik, from Mumbai and sold it in Bangalore. Gulled said the police are looking out for James and have sought the help of Mumbai police in this regard. The police are also checking the duo’s call records to trace other drug dealers and their customers.
Onyakachi’s visa had expired. The police have booked him for this offence, too.
