Padmanabhanagar is all set to be one of the best developed localities in the city with the chief minister, BS Yeddyurappa, inaugurating a slew of developmental projects in the assembly constituency on Tuesday.

The major works include the construction of a four-lane flyover at Kittur Rani Chennamma Circle at the cost of Rs32.3 crore and the restoration of Dorekere lake and Uttarahalli lakes at the cost of Rs6.28 crore and Rs3.76 crore, respectively.

Laying the foundation stone for the works, Yeddyurappa said that within one year, all 160 lakes of the city will be restored. “Several works on infrastructural development have been initiated in the city over the past 18 months.

More than Rs7.5 crore has been spent for infrastructure in the last one year,” he said, adding: “The development of Bangalore was not given importance by earlier governments and the funds were not properly used.”

In coordination with the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, the residents of Padmanabhanagar will be planting 5 lakh saplings during 2010-11. For this project, students from different schools will be nominated as ‘green ambassadors.’
