Absconding owner of crashed Bangalore building held

Srinivasa Naidu, 55, owner of the crashed building in Sumanahalli, was arrested on Friday in Vellore in Tamil Nadu.
Confirming the arrest, SN Sidramappa, deputy commissioner of police (west), said of the several teams sent in various directions, one arrested him in the ‘fort city’ on Friday evening. He would be produced before a Bangalore court on Saturday.

In another development, the investigators identified the saree dyeing unit’s owner as Dinesh Kumar.

Sidramappa said a team of police is hunting for the owner of the dyeing unit who stored the dangerous chemical in the building.
Police were still probing what caused the fire and cylinder blast.

“We will be able to tell the exact cause of the fire accident only after we receive the report from forensic science laboratory,” an investigative officer said.

Workers continued clearing the debris late into the night on Friday.
 “We don’t want to lose any evidence from the site. So we are clearing it carefully,” an officer said.

Kamakshipalya police have registered a case against Naidu and Dinesh.

Police said cases had been registered against them under sections 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 304a (causing death by negligence), 427 (mischief causing damage) and 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance) of Indian Penal Code.

A case was also booked under the provision of the Explosive Substances Act.
