ShareMangalore: Collection of rare, modern stamps that describes the changing world has captured the interest of Mansoor Bolar, a member of the Dakshina Kannada Philately and Numastic Association.
He has a rare stampthat gives you a glimpse of modern history. The stamp envisages the Davis cup finals held in Russia. Russia had won the cup for the first time in the post Perestorika period and to commemorate the victory, the Russian postal department had issued this stamp.
The embossed stamp comprises 99.9 per cent silver and the powder displayed in the image of the tennis court is the actual clay from the court, on which the tournament was played.
Only few stamps reached India. Mansoor says one can touch and feel the clay on the stamp. The stamp is a part of three stamp that depicts the jubilation of Russia's victory in the Davis cup at the first international Tennis tournament held after the iron curtain fell.
