Find divinity, find God, journey through the illusions of this world and finally, discover your true self. As you watch spellbound, there is no doubt you will emerge transformed in the sheer emotionality of Wendy Jehlen’s choreography.

Anikai Dance Theatre Company, a project of Akhra: the Dancing Grounds, Inc, a not-for-profit organisation, will perform in Bangalore on Saturday and Sunday as part of its India tour.

Incorporating various elements of a wide range of dance and movement styles, the dance will see influences of Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Japanese contemporary dance form Butoh, Brazilian martial art form Capoeira, African dance movements and Kalaripayattu.

The performances by the group are Forest and He Who Burns. Forest will give you a glimpse of the transformational magic that envelopes it.

He who burns will tell the story of Iblis (Satan) as understood in some Sufi traditions. “Come with an open mind, look for your own story, in our performances, find your own meaning,” said Jehlen, speaking at a press conference on Friday.

The performances will be put up free of cost at the East Cultural Association on Saturday at 7 pm.

On Sunday the group will perform at the Chowdaiah Memorial Hall at 3.30 pm, followed by another performance at 7.30 pm.

Tickets for the performances at the Chowdaiah Memorial Hall are priced at Rs250, Rs500 and Rs750.
