A 26-year-old trainee advocate died at a private hospital on Tuesday while undergoing treatment for injuries he sustained 45 days ago in an attack in Babusabpalya under Hennur police station limits.

The deceased is identified as Prabhakar, 26, a resident of Frazer Town. The police said that Prabhakar was attacked by a relative of his lover on February 26. He was admitted to Jain Hospital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Prabhakar was in love with a girl from another community. However, the parents of the girl were opposed to this romantic affair.

An agitated Prabhakar went to the girl’s house around 10 pm on February 26 and forcibly tried to take her with him. While trying to thwart Prabhakar’s move, a brother of the girl and three brothers-in-law allegedly hit him with wooden stick.

Prabhakar was admitted to Jain Hospital with serious injuries. The Hennur police registered an attempt to murder case, but did not make any arrests.

Following Prabhakar’s death, they have now registered a murder case. Search is on to arrest the accused persons.
