The rape case in which a six year old girl was raped in the Vibgyor High school is an example of how the police goofed up the investigation. The initial arrest of Mohammed Mustafa, a skating instructor in the school, and then the police ruling out his involvement in the case and showing the arrest of two others, also raises the question whether Mustafa was arrested due to growing pressure on the police?

On July 20, the day Mustafa was arrested, the then police commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar had said, "During the investigation it was revealed that he is a pervert and addicted to porn videos. His laptops and mobile phones were seized. His laptops were filled with porn videos that he had downloaded from internet. He downloaded only such videos in which girls wearing school uniform are raped."

It was also alleged that he was showing the porn videos in his mobile phones to the school children.

Eight days later, on July 29, the present police commissioner M N Reddi, ruled out the involvement of Mustafa in the case. However, he also said that Mustafa was then arrested based on several clues. "As the investigations continued, it came to know that he was not involved in this case. However, there are allegations that he has sexually assaulted a girl in the Deen's Academy School in Whitefiled, where he was working earlier and the school has filed a complaint in Whitefield police station."

He said that Lal Giri and Waseem Pasha, both gymnastic coaches in the same school, were the two who committed the rape.

It is said that the furore over the incident and growing pressure on the police made them to arrest Mustafa, though there was no clinching evidence against him. "Besides the porn videos in his laptops, there were no circumstantial evidence against Mustafa. Owing to pressure, the police could have arrested Mustafa with whatever little suspicion they had," a senior police officer said.

Amid a shroud of distress, Mustafa's parents rue, "I want to see my son. Where is he? How is he? Please tell us what is happening with him."

In a conversation with dna, Mustafa's father Mohammad Murtaza, a taxi driver, shares that his son is innocent.

"My son shares my blood and I know what he truly is. The police have arrested him in a rape case, something we can't even imagine. The police have falsely alleged and are trying to fix my son in this case," he complains, questioning, "Do you know where is my son? How is he?"

"Mustafa is the only bread winner for the family of four. While he was arrested, we were observing Ramzan and were left out from Eid celebrations. Now, we have reached a state where we have to beg to feed ourselves one meal a day. We are in this condition because of the police," says Murtaza.

He continues, "Two days after his arrest, we got to know about the incident and the police did not even inform us. The police are narrating the entire episode like a drama. There was nothing in my son's laptop nor have the police seized anything from it. They are just fooling us."

Murtaza does not wish to give up everything easily, and in the hope of seeking justice, he says, "I will expose the real face of the police and move the court, if need be. I am not going to fold my hands and sit quietly. I am just waiting for my son to get back home safely. I only want to know where is my son and is he safe."

With hopes in his eyes, he concludes, "God will punish the real culprits and the police for targeting my son. No one came extended a helping hand to us and we were ill treated in the society. Due to the police, people laughed at us and we felt like ending our lives. However, the truth has prevailed."
