Two held for misbehaving with sales girl in wine festival

A first division clerk (FDC) and an advocate who misbehaved with a sales girl at the Bangalore International Wine Festival were bashed up by public on Sunday. Later, the duo was arrested by the J C Nagar police, who opened rowdy sheets against them.

The accused have been identified as Kiran, 28, a resident of Devanahalli and an FDC in the revenue department, and Surendra, 28, an advocate. The other accused, Ravi, a car driver, is absconding and the police are on the lookout for him.

According to the police, the trio went to the wine festival at Jayamahal Palace in Palace Grounds on Sunday evening and got drunk there. Meanwhile, they waylaid a sales girl returning from the toilet to the stall and tried to kiss her. As she resisted, the trio dragged her and molested her. When she cried for help, other visitors and workers held Kiran and Surendra, and bashed them up. However, Ravi managed to escape from them. Later the duo were handed over to the police.

"The sales girl, aged about 17 years, has sustained injuries in her hand and neck during the incident. The accused have been booked for assault, outraging the modesty of women and under the POCSO Act. Rowdy sheets have been opened against them," the police added.

A case is registered in J C Nagar police station in this connection.
