Territorial Army pushes the pedal on an expedition in Bangalore

A cycle expedition, organised by the 106 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) PARA, was flagged off by Major General AK Pradhan, general offficer commanding of Karnataka and Kerala sub-area in the city on Wednesday.

A cycle expedition, organised by the 106 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) PARA, was flagged off by Major General AK Pradhan, general offficer commanding of Karnataka and Kerala sub-area in the city on Wednesday.

The expedition consisting of one junior commissioned officer  and 10 officers of other ranks will travel about 3,000 km through the states of Karnataka, TamilNadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala covering more then 35 districts including Mysore, Tiruchirapalli, Madurai, Palani, Coimbatore, Mannarkad, Kozhikode, Kannur, Nileswaram, Mangalore, Udupi, Shimoga, Sirsi, Belgaum, Kolhapur, Athani, Bijapur, Sindgi, Gulbarga, Mahbubnagar, Raichur, Sindhanur, Chitradurga and Tumkur in 43 days.

The aim of the cycle expedition is to give wide publicity to the concept of Territorial Army and motivate the younger generation to join the outfit and also to inculcate the spirit of adventure amongst all ranks and to develop leadership and communication skills. 

The expedition also intends to promote national integration.
