State-of-art Kalasipalya bus terminal

Minister for transport Ramalinga Reddy on Saturday announced that the government will build a state of the art bus terminal at Kalasipalya. Speaking to reporters at his office, Reddy explained that the five-storied terminal with a cellar will be built at a cost of Rs240 crore and will provide space for BMTC, KSRTC and private buses as well.

“The tender process will begin soon to convert the dirty and chaotic place into a well organised one,” he said. The land was transferred to the transport department from BBMP four months ago. The department has acted swiftly in this regard, he added.

He also said that strict orders have been given to the BBMP officials to fill up potholes in the city. Till date, as many as 2,000 potholes have been filled and another 1,500 have been identified, he said.

New buses

Reddy also stated that the department would purchase 1,528 new buses and mini buses for BMTC and KSRTC. He added that Rs50 crore has been granted to provide basic facilities to travellers on highways in the state.
