State Govt writes to Council of Indian School Certificate Examinations to cancel Vibgyor Affiliation

Following the recent alleged sexual assault of the six-year-old girl in the premises of Vibygor High School, the state government has shot a letter to the Council of Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Friday.

Taking stock of the situation, the state government has demanded the cancellation of the ICSE affiliation of Vibgyor High school in Marathahalli, Bangalore. The government has served a notice to the CISCE on why the Council is delaying in cancelling the affiliation of Vibgyor High. A detailed inquiry by the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and deputy director of Bangalore will be conducted over the alleged sexual assault of the girl child in school premises. Mohammad Mohsin, commissioner, department of public instruction said that the inquiry was in progress.

Meanwhile, Women and children welfare minister, Umashree has also urged Home Minister KJ George, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Ratnakar, and Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, T.B. Jayachandra to take stringent action regarding the alleged sexual assault. Minister Umashree, has requested the home minister to take stringent action and to slap criminal charges as per the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 gainst the school. Citing the negligence of school management, the minister has also demanded the cancellation of Vibgyor High's affiliation from the CISCE board and to blacklist the institution.

Special fast track court to deal with sexual offences against women and children has to be constituted within a stipulated deadline for speedy trial. The minister has said in a press statement that the number of children's courts have to be increased in the state.
