Six people who were allegedly involved in riots in Yellur village in Belgaum district are taken into the police custody. Karnataka Home Minister, KJ George in the legislative council said that six persons who were allegedly involved in the riots are taken into the police custody.

"With respect to the High Court order, police had evacuated the name board on which it was written "Maharashtra state Yellur" on June 25. One month after the incident, Yellur village had the same board at the same place and started attacking Kannadiga's randomly and pelted stones on media people," said the home minister.

Further more KJ George said, again on July 27, the police evacuated the board with a police protection. However, the people in Yellur village started pelting stones at the police and the media persons. To bring the situation under control the police had to resort to lathicharge."
