The union minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, HN Ananth Kumar has accused the Siddaramaiah government of increasing rape cases in state and he said that, chief minister and home minister are responsible for such incidents.
On Sunday, after participating in the former minister V Somanna's birthday programme, he said "Since six months, Bangalore alone has witnessed 60 rape cases. Because of the government's inaction and negligence attitude, the crime incidents are on rise," he said.
The government should setup special courts for dealing the cases related to child abuse and the rape. Even, more attention should be given to Bangalore city regarding women's safety he suggested.
Ananth Kumar expressed his shock over the rape of school girl incident and demanded stringent action against the accused. However, he said he is not aware of the state government's letter to the center demanding the cancellation of ICSE certification of the school- Vibgyor High, where the incident took place.
"If any such letter arrived at the center, I will speak to the Human Resource Minister Smrithi Irani and will do the needful," Ananth Kumar assured.
