Senior citizen teacher held for molesting student

A 63-year-old teacher who allegedly molested an eight-year-old girl in the school has been arrested by the Thalaghattapura police on Tuesday. The incident was reported in Maruthi Primary School in Gubbalala off Kanakapura Road.

The accused has been identified as Chandramouli, a resident of Turahalli. He is a retired government employee and was working in the school from the last two months.

According to the police, the parents of the girl went to the school on Tuesday and thrashed Chandramouli, as the girl had informed them about the incident on Monday. It is said that the accused stripped four students including the girl on Monday and he allegedly molested the girl. After she returned home, she complained her parents about the incident.

"It is being said that the accused was misbehaving with girl students and was stripping them for not doing homework. The girl's parents went to the school and complained to the management on Tuesday morning. As there was no response from the management, they thrashed up the accused and brought him to the police station," the police added.

Chandramouli, who is said to be father of ten children, has no vision in his left eye and is said to be suffering from memory loss. He has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The police have also booked the school management for not reporting the matter to the police.
