The final examinations of second year Pre-University course which were held from March 13 have concluded on Thursday. Most candidates who have appeared for the examinations were happy with their performances. The department of Pre-University education is also hoping for better results.

“We hope the overall pass percentage will be better this year,” said a senior official of the department.

The results of the examinations are expected to be out on May 3, following the assembly elections scheduled for May 5.

“We have plans to declare the results on May 3 and the evaluation process will begin from April 2,” an official confirmed.

The just concluded exams were also marked by the lack of disturbances, excepting a question paper leak incident in Tumkur. Investigations regarding this question paper leak are still on and department officials now claim that the question paper which was recovered from the arrested does not match the paper provided to students.

That said, the number of malpractice cases have drastically decreased when compared to previous years. This year, a total of 186 malpractice cases were reported across the state. In 2011, as a comparison, the number of cases was 335 and in 2010, it was 606.
