Rowdysheeter arrested after he attacks cops

A rowdy-sheeter was shot and arrested by the police after he attacked the policemen who went to arrest him. The incident was reported near Kalpalli graveyard near Halasur on Friday morning.

Syed, a constable attached to Bharathinagar police station, was injured in the incident. Rowdy-sheeter Praveen, 29, sustained injuries in the incident and he has been hospitalised. His associate Kumaresh has been arrested by the police.

According to the police, the accused duo had kidnapped Srinivas, a LPG cylinder distributor in Bharathinagar in an auto on Thursday and took him to KGF. He was kept in illegal detention the while night and the accused demanded Rs. 20,000 from him. But Srinivas gave Rs. 5,000 that he had with him and told them he would arrange the remaining amount. The accused duo was taking him towards Nagarabavi Junction on Friday morning, as Srinivas told them that he would get the money from a friend there.

"The police received information about this and a police team waylaid the auto near Kalpalli graveyard. Constable Syed to went near the auto and asked the accused to surrender. But the duo threatened the police that they would murder Srinivas if the police went near them and Praveen attacked the constable with a machete. As he got down from the auto and tried to escape, inspector Nagaraj shot a bullet from his service pistol and the bullet injured Praveen's right leg. Then the injured constable and Praveen were shifted to hospital while Kumaresh were arrested and Srinivas was rescued," the police said.

Praveen is facing attempt to murder, robbery, extortion, kidnap and other charges in Bharathinagar, Hennur and Pulikeshinagar police stations. And, he was a rowdy-sheeter in Bharathinagar police station.

"Praveen, who was earlier working in a LPG cylinder distribution agency run by Louis, was sacked for allegedly misusing funds. He opened another cylinder distribution agency in the same road and the business was not doing well. About six months ago, he attacked Louis and had robbed him. He was arrested in this regard and he had come out from jail just a week ago. Again he had stabbed Louis ion August 6 and Louis has been hospitalised," the police added.
