Parents of students of Vibgyor High, the school in Whitefield where a five-year-old girl was allegedly raped, continued protesting in front of the school and resorted to vandalism as no one from the management met them to listen to their problems. Meanwhile, the Vartur police who are investigating the case have reportedly detained two people — a security guard and a helper in the gym — in connection with the incident.

Nearly 1,000 parents and locals staged protest condemning the act and demanding safety for the students. Meanwhile, the founder chairman of the school Rustom Kerrawala held a meeting with 10-15 parents. During this, a section of parents demanded that even media persons should be allowed to attend the meeting.

As reporters were not allowed inside, parents started shouting slogans against the management and created ruckus. They broke the glass door at the entrance of the school and dismantled the window panes. Further, they also barged inside the school and the pots and damaged some furniture. It was only then that Rustom agreed to come forward and address the parents publicly.

Rustom said that it was an unfortunate incident and the culprits must be punished. He also said that the school management would do its best to ensure the safety of the students and a management meeting will be held on Tuesday to decide over the demands of the parents. However, the agitators were not satisfied with his statement and asked him to agree on the spot for their demands.

Then, Rustom agreed to install more CCTV cameras in the school premises and to depute more number of security guards. He also said that the antecedents of the employees who would join in the future will be checked. Also, he agreed to not allow outsiders to use the swimming pool inside the school and would maintaining a log book to have the details of the visitors.

However, the parents will be holding a meeting again on Saturday to discuss what other steps can be taken for the safety of students. They have also decided to not send their children to school till their demands are met. Former MLA Nandish Reddy, whose son is studying the same school, also took part in the protest.

Meanwhile, the police said that the investigation was almost completed and they have detained two people in connection with the incident. "A security guard and helper in the gym have been taken into custody and they are being questioned," a source said.
