‘Ramdev is 'dhongi', Anna Hazare panel corrupt’

All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary BK Hariprasad on Sunday attacked yoga guru Ramdev by terming him as dhongi (fake) baba and most corrupt. The senior Congress leader from Karnataka also directed his fury at the civil society members in Lokpal Bill drafting committee.

Participating in a mass health check-up programme organised by Sarvajanika Jagruthi Vedike, he said Ramdev is corrupt. He has made big money by luring people through his yoga training. “He has RSS backing. A baba owning assets to the tune of thousands of crores naturally evokes serious suspicions. The Union government has taken several measures to bring back money stashed in foreign banks. Ramdev deliberately continued his fast with political motives even after the Union government explained the measures it has taken to curb black money,” Hariprasad said.

Referring to the anti-corruption campaign launched by social activist Anna Hazare, he said, “I have high respect for Anna Hazare, but some of the members in his committee are corrupt. It is a corrupt committee. Noted advocate Shantibhushan owns assets worth thousands of crores. He should disclose as to how he made it.”

BJP had no moral right to take up the campaign against corruption. “The party leaders are blind to corruption of their own chief minister BS Yeddyurappa in Karnataka. People can see through this hypocrisy of BJP in the fight against corruption,” he said.
