Backing Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's statement that the RSS killed Mahatma Gandhi, chief minister Siddaramaiah said on Wednesday that Godse was a RSS man and the whole country knows about it.

"Where is Godse from? Wasn't he from the RSS? The entire country knows that he was an RSS man," Siddaramaiah told dna when asked about Rahul's controversial statement.

When asked about BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi playing the OBC card in the election campaign, Siddaramaiah, an OBC leader, said, "Modi is an RSS man and is entirely backed by the RSS. He will act according to the RSS directions. It was the RSS that announced him as prime ministerial candidate, marginalising BJP's senior most leader LK Advani, opposition leaders in both houses of parliament Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, and party chief Rajnath Singh."

Asked about the Modi wave, he said, "Where is the Modi wave? He did campaigning in Karnataka during the assembly elections. What's the result? You all know, the BJP lost in coastal Karnataka, which was considered to be its stronghold. He can't do anything in Karnataka."

"The BJP keeps speaking about Modi and his Gujarat model. To me, Gujarat is not at all a model. If it is so, why is the literacy rate low in Gujarat?"

Speaking about issues for the LS elections in Karnataka, Siddaramaiah said both, local and national issues, have their own impact on voters.

He, however, said that people can't judge his government's performance within nine months."I don't think the people's mind will change in this election as they still remember the bad governance given by the BJP and its corruption. So, the Congress will definitely do good in the state and win 18-20 seats," Siddaramaiah said.

Siddaramaiah expressed optimism about his continuation as chief minister after the LS elections and said that all is well in the party. "We will win at least 18 to 20 seats. I and KPCC chief G Parameshwara have perfect understanding and will show good results," he said.
