Reports stating some terror suspects may have sneaked into the city in a Tata Nano car to carry out attacks on star hotels, turned out to be hoax after police tracked down the car on Tuesday.

Police commissioner BG Jyothiprakash Mirji said his force was on full alert after they were informed about two persons, who “looked like terrorists”, roaming the city in a suspicious manner. Security was beefed up at all the star hotels in the city and even security drills were conducted following the emergence of the threat. Mirji said the police were able to trace the vehicle on Sunday itself and were constantly monitoring its movements. When they finally caught the car near KIMCO junction on Mysore road, and questioned the two suspects who were in it, it became evident that they were innocent and did not have any mala fied intentions.

“We seized their laptops, mobile phones and also got details about their e-mails. We did not find any unlawful activity and so, we let them go,” Mirji said.

As the suspects were proved innocent, Mirji declined to disclose their identity. However, he said the suspect duo were a father and son from Gujarat and had been to the city on some personnel work.
