MIT thrilled over Nadella being in race to head Microsoft

The net is abuzz about the possibility of Satya Nadella, India-born president of the servers and tools business of Microsoft, heading the software giant, and the excitement is palpable at Manipal Institute of Technology, 60 km from here, his alma mater. Nadella studied in the electrical branch at MIT during 1984-87, and the faculty and students are praying and hoping that the star that emerged from their college will succeed Steve Balmer.

“We just hope and pray that Satya gets the job, I remember him as a combination of an intelligent and hardworking student,” said MIT director Vinod Thomas.

The MIT campus is abuzz over the news since it broke and it is the staple of discussion among groups students on the campus.

A group of students which dna spoke to were unanimous that it was a big honour to be even in the race for such a big job, and more so “for an Indian in general and Manipal and MIT in particular”.

Sanjay, a student, said: “Now I can brag on my CV that I come from the same college as Satya Nadella graduated from”.
