The residents of Mandur and surrounding villages said that they would keep a count the number of garbage laden trucks which enter the landfill area. Siddaramaiah during his visit to Mandur had promised that only 150 trucks be allowed would enter the landfill from Monday onwards.

A resident said that villagers in shifts which keep vigil over the number of trucks entering the landfill area from midnight onwards.

Manjunath Rao, a social worker from Mandur said,"We have decided to appoint ten villagers in one shift to count the trucks entering the landfill area and this has to come down to 150 by Monday. After a month this number will have to further decrease to 100," he said.

Siddaramaiah had also assured the villagers that by the end of November Mandur no truck laden with the city's garbage will enter Mandur. Villagers around the Mandur landfill area have evolved plans in case the government fails to keep up its promises.

Meanwhile we have also decided to keep the local MLA, Aravinda Limbavali away from village for failing to keep up past promises like making Mandur garbage free. "He has never helped us in our need to become free from garbage and governments interference", Rao added.

Another resident of Mandur, Gopale Gowda said,"Now we are getting water through water tankers. Our plea is for Cauvery water pipelines as the ground water around the landfill area is completely polluted."

"For a Chief Minister, it was a easy task to take a look around the landfill area as the place was cleaned and covered by soil. Even the medicine was sprayed to control the foul smell. But not for the residents, who die daily. Hope this time Siddaramaiah will keep up his promises and we will also make sure our demands are fulfilled. We are also ready for further actions, in case of governments failure," said Gururaja of Mandur.
